A small scale study done on the River Eastburn Beck in England shows the positive impact weir removal has on brown trout populations.

Earlier this year, Professor Jon Grey from the Wild Trout Trust shared his results from his pre- and post- studies on how weir notches and partial demolitions influenced trout populations.

Where him and his team removed obstructions to fish passage, there were 5x the number of fish in 2018 compared to those same sites in 2015, prior to the works!
