About the project

The removal of the Kruostas dam was initiated in 2023, by the Kėdainiai District Municipality, due to the deteriorating condition and bad technical state of the dam. Supported by the local community and funded by the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania, the project aimed to address safety concerns and restore natural river dynamics.

The site, important for several Natura 2000 habitats and the protected riffle minnow (Alburnoides bipunctatus), faced challenges during demolition due to hydropower plant structures on the shore. Join us at the live event on July 23 to learn more about this project!

If you missed the live event, you can watch the recording!
