More than 1,700 future barriers planned in Turkey

Several organizations in Turkey have now convened to work against the massive construction of dams in the country. The group called “Turkey Water Assembly” first documented their proposals in 2011 from which we can learn about the HEP and dam construction plans in the following years. Sadly, some of these dams will flood ancient villages, such as the 12,000 year old settlement in the picture below.
